The firm was founded in 1865 by John Henry Cocks and five years later he was joined by his brother in law to become Cocks and Newson. In 1886 Oliver Clover Jewers joined his uncle as an apprentice and in 1891 after the death of J.H. Cocks, O.C. Jewers took over the business.

In 1930 Edward Jewers joined the business and in 1950 a limited company was formed. In 1961 Clive Jewers joined and he was followed by his son Matthew Jewers in 1998. We are very proud that we have traded with several generations of the same farming families. Many of our customers have been able to trace back through our hand written ledgers, deals done with grandparents or even great grandparents.

In 2005 the company began construction of new premises at Woolpit. This brand new facility has specialised cleaning and drying equipment as well as storage for over 10,000 tonnes.
